For the Answer-Postings > Maybe a Scale you can define for yourself, how sure you are that you know the answer
from 1 to 3.
1= I know it 100%
2= It could be
3= I guess, because the style or the colours look like ...

well, I dont know exatly what you mean by "functions", but I try to go more into detail:

of course we need some kind of registration, so we can build up a community. I would try to keep the questions asked during the registration process as less as possible, so people don't think of it as a barrier.
- User profile:
what will you see first when you click on a person's profile?
profile picture
personal information ( very short : name, age, location )
the status of the person ( depends on how many questions and answers posted : eg newbie/beginner/pro?? )
friends
last posted answers and questions
I personally would NOT add a guestbook, because we dont want to build up a community which is similar to facebook or myspace.what do you think?

so if we add only those tools it means that if you participate more, you will have a more filled out profile than others. because if you comment on questions, it can be seen on your profile and of course if you post a question yourself.
- friendlist:
maybe like the facebook friendlist? i like that one. you can search for friends which belong to a certain group or network ( in our case the category ), or you can simply search your friendslist for a name.
if one persons logs on into their account, they should be seeing the new posted questions from their friends.
so it should be a goal from our users to have a lot of friends, because then more people see their posted questions and it is more likely to get an faster answer.
- photo upload : of course there has to be one, should be easy to use, and maybe possible to also give a comment ( where you took the picture and maybe already a guess for the answer )
- search engine:
this is the most important tool, because its the one everything is based on. so i guess it needs a lot of good organization.
Since everything is about questions and answers maybe we should implant a search engine that specializes in that field. for examples www.askjeeves.com rather than google. of course the search is only within the webpage.
Before a person can post a question, it would be useful if the search engine automatically searches for similar questions already asked. if the user still didnt find the right post, he can open one up, choosing a category and subcategories where to publish the picture in.
